Well, yesterday was our free day in New York City. By all reports, good times were had, no injuries or arrests were reported, and everyone was where they were supposed to be at departure time this morning. Some of the guys have been to NYC many times, and for others, it was their first visit. Various groups visited the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, The World Trade Center Memorial, Times Square, and saw some Broadway shows, including Kinky Boots, Chicago, and It's Only a Play.
Our hotel management said we were excellent guests (!) and that they'd be glad to have us visit again sometime. Will wonders never cease?!?
Though our tour was short this year, we sang for some very appreciative audiences, saw lots of family and friends, enjoyed the start of warmer weather, and still have a little time left to enjoy some down time over spring break.
We're looking forward to hosting the Penn Glee Club in Charlottesville on March 21st and then traveling to Mt. Holyoke college to perform the Duruflé Requiem on March 28th. If you're nearby, we'd love to see you at those performances! Visit www.virginiagleeclub.org for more information.
Next year, Argentina!

Long Island Bound
The sun continues to shine, though most of the guys are asleep on the bus after an early morning school performance at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy. We were surprised to find a Charlottesville native in our audience, a student whose parents are professors at UVa (on leave this year)! We embarrassed her by making her take a picture with us.
After singing, the guys played a little dodgeball in the gym while waiting for pizza. Squatch is an excellent player.
Last night we were hosted by Concordia, one of the choirs of the Pennsylvania Academy of Performing Arts. They had a great pot luck supper for us and we serenaded then with a few numbers by way of thanks.
We stayed at a hotel right in Center City Philadelphia, which was fun and convenient for the guys. Musk Ox's mom brought lunch to the hotel for everyone when we arrived--a much appreciated bit of local hospitality.
We're making good time on the road to Baldwin, Long Island, so we might have time for a stop in Coney Island on the way. Stay tuned!

On time departure?!?
We had a great concert last night in Falls Church, with lots of family and friends in the audience. It was especially fun to sing the Biebl Ave Maria with the Washington Men's Camerata, though it was a bit of a tight squeeze fitting everyone on the altar.
In spite of the daylight savings time switch, we actually departed early this morning. That's probably a first in the annals of Glee Club history. There's no traffic on this bright Sunday morning, so it's smooth sailing to Philadelphia!

Concert time
After a successful visit to Udvar-Hazy, we made it to our first destination: St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Falls Church, Virginia. Sorry, Wafna--Flamingos can't fly the planes.
A little warming up in the sanctuary...
And it's time for a great church supper. Thanks to all who fed us!
Finally on the road!
Yay! The bus showed up on time this morning, as did most of the guys, so the Glee Club finally got on its way. We're looking forward to warmer temperatures and melting snow!
The first stop is the Udvar-Hazy Center of the National Air and Space Museum.

No fun so far
Well, after standing on the ice-covered Charlottesville tundra for 90 minutes, the tour bus finally showed up late--just as we received a call from our hosts at the University of Maryland Men's Invitational Choral Festival (today's destination), saying the University had closed and the event was cancelled. I guess it's better to find out before getting on the bus rather than after driving 50 miles and having to turn around. We'll try again tomorrow. NoVa or bust!

Let it Snow!
Whew...what a day in Charlottesville! It's the day before tour, and we've had a major snow storm. Classes were cancelled and the University has essentially shut down. But the intrepid Glee Club soldiers on and thanks to Daniel Hine, we've arranged to have our dress rehearsal at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, where he's the music director. Everyone is psyched to get out of town, as soon as last-minute homework assignments are done and bags are packed.
They've finally started plowing and salting the roads, so here's hoping we can depart on time tomorrow for our first stop at the Men's Choral Invitational Festival at the University of Maryland. The evening concert in the Chapel begins at 8, and well be singing the men's choruses from Towson and Maryland, so join us if you're able!
